Voice Your Choice (VYC) is a voter education campaign inspiring hope and courage among present and future generations to ‘voice our choice’ by practising our democratic right to vote.

Kedai Runcit was contacted to find the best and cost-effective way to send newsletter emails to tens of thousands of users in their system (legally of course, because spam sucks!). In the end, we integrated their Drupal-based opt-in mass emailing system with Amazon SES (Simple Email Service). All emails on the site, from single administrative emails to mass newsletter emails, are now handled by SES.

Why not just get a dedicated SMTP server to do the work? Well, every tried sending out 50,000 emails, on a non-profit budget and reliably? SES was a winner here.

Chow Kit Kita (Malay for “Our Chow Kit”) is a community mapping project by teens and for teens of Chow Kit, an area in Kuala Lumpur. The map intends to show what they think and how they feel about Chow Kit and their community. Using the arts, it will incorporate their perspectives on information relevant to their surroundings and lifestyle. In other words, Chow Kit Kita is the young voice of Chow Kit.

In August 2011, the Chow Kit Kita website, a third party job, and all other sites hosted on the same account was defaced in a random attack by hackers. Chow Kit Kita came to us for help in assessing the situation, rescuing the site and removing all malicious code in the filesystem as well as databases; which we did — all on the same night.

EroTICs, an exploratory research aims to narrow the gap between political assumptions and a better understanding of content and “harm” based on women’s real experience of sexuality online.

This breakthrough study carried out in Brazil, India, Lebanon, South Africa & USA looks at how the internet plays host to critical information about sex education, health, fighting sex discrimination and defining one’s own sexuality. It debunks the commonly-held view that sexuality online is just about pornography.
